Think Like Christ

1 Peter 4:1 & 2 (The Message)

1-2 Since Jesus went through everything you're going through and more, learn to think like Him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. Then you'll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want.

I love this verse, it is simple yet very powerful. There is nothing that we will ever go through that Jesus hasn't experienced yet without sin. So here we are encouraged to think like Him. What does that mean? It means to embrace it, deal with it, and go through it the way Jesus did. Jesus said at the hardest point in His life if this cup can pass me by, but not MY will Father Your will. Jesus thoughts went from the cross to His Fathers will and we need to think like Him, and look at our suffering and challenges the same way He did. He didn't nurse them and rehearse them. He didn;t whine or throw a tantrum no because He made up in His mind that He was going to do the Father's will. Sometimes life hurts...real bad. Sometimes it's like every time you wake up you are being punched in the face. THINK LIKE HIM. Why? So you will be able to live out your days free to do God's will instead of the flesh running you ragged. There is power in that right there! I hope your ears are open to catch this. Everytime something comes up and you want to do it YOUR WAY...THINK LIKE HIM! Everytime somebody slanders you, downs you, THINK LIKE HIM. NOT MY WILL OR WAY FATHER but YOURS. OH I know this one hurts, yeah I'm bleeding too but the only way we are going to advance the Kingdom and handle life's trauma and drama in a way that pleases God we are going to have to THINK LIKE HIM, PICK UP OUR CROSS and....(-:

Never Cease to Share the King or the Kingdom

Acts 5:42 (Amplified Bible)
42Yet [in spite of the threats] they never ceased for a single day, both in the temple area and at home, to teach and to proclaim the good news (Gospel) of Jesus [as] the Christ (the Messiah).

One thing that marks the saints of old and new is their "in spite of spirit."
No matter what comes, no matter how hard life hits them in the face, no matter what people do or say to them or try to do to them they never cease to say ALL things work together for my good, they never cease to praise God, and they NEVER cease to proclaim the Good News no matter what the costs. This kind of endurance I believe comes from our relationship with God and our indwelling of God. God is not a quitter ad because He isn't we don't have to be either WHEN we yield completely to Him. Jesus always had people both loving Him and hating Him at the same time. That is part of this Christian walk isn't it?! Yes it most certainly is. Those that embrace the Good News love those sent to share it, those that embrace the darkness hate those that bring the Good News because their wickedness is shown to be what it is...yet we love them in spite of their hatred toward us and we keep on proclaiming Christ regardless of their threats.
THAT IS OUR SAVIOR and these are what we are to DO as saints...keep proclaiming the King and His Kingdom no matter what. Take up your cross daily and follow Me says Jesus. This resurrection Sunday remember, not only what Jesus did but remember also we expects from you too (-:
